What is CBAM?
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is the EU’s tool to put a fair price on the carbon emitted during the production of certain carbon-intensive goods imported into the EU.
Starting with a reporting phase (2023–2025) and moving into the transitional phase (from 2026), CBAM will directly impact exporters of cement, iron & steel, aluminium, fertilizers, electricity and hydrogen.
Why It Matters
Risk of lost competitiveness in EU markets
Strict reporting and verification requirements
Incentive to decarbonize and innovate
Covered Goods
Cement
Iron & Steel
Aluminium
